“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
Do you ever feel that everything in your life has gone wrong? Too many things you wish you could have done differently? You feel tired. Hopeless…. Or are you just plain stressed out?
I believe that Jesus our Savior reaches out to us at such times saying, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” What great peace those words bring, especially in the midst of darkness! Jesus’ invitation to rest and release our burdens leaves no doubt that he cares about us and what we might be going through.
He tells us to forget the past with its mistakes. Through him all is forgiven. He helps us forget regrets as though they never were. With such compassion and love he brings his peace – peace beyond all understanding. The life and light of Jesus always shining.
Jesus knows us inside and out. He remembers the good we’ve done. He remembers our obedience when we helped him change lives. He saw our smiles as they brought joy to those we met. He felt our love for others and tells us that we too are deeply loved.
“Come to me. All is well.”
Open your hands and let him who loves you beyond measure fill them with his joy. Jesus invites you to accept what he offers – a healing of your spirit and your soul.
He shines his light on you, and so do family and friends. That wondrous light that overcomes the dark. That light called “love.”
