Blessed are you when people hate you,
when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil,
because of the Son of Man.

Luke 6:22

As we go through life, deciding what to do about things that are wrong, we must be very careful! It’s easy to make enemies – to end up hated, excluded, your name considered evil.

Are you making enemies? It can be easy if you don’t bring God with you. Did you search your heart before you acted? Did it line up with God’s heart?

Jesus’ words from the Beatitudes above are comforting. He says that you will be blessed, even if you did something that made people think ill of you. But the words are not intended for everyone. They’re only for those who do what they do for God, not for themselves alone.

The questions we need to ask ourselves are these: Why did we do what we did? Was it for ourselves or for God?
