See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

1 John 3:1

Some of us are far too sensitive. Because of that we tend not to feel very good about ourselves at times. About who we are. About what others think of us. Sometimes we feel downright rejected. And that’s painful. Are you more sensitive than what’s good for you?

One day when I told a friend how I felt, he pointed out that God never rejects anyone. And what God feels matters more than people. Such reassurance that gave me! It was as though I’d never known this before! Don’t we all sometimes forget what God is truly like?

But, as my friend wisely pointed out, when we feel people think badly of us, we need to remember what our heavenly Father thinks, not people. God loves us more than any earthly person possibly could. He’s the only one we should pay attention to.

Can we be satisfied with God’s love, or do we need people’s love more? Well…I’m not so sure. After all, it’s so much easier to “experience” the love of people.

But we can never be secure in people’s love. We can’t ever be sure we won’t be rejected. I’ve in painful ways learned I can never trust people. And that’s very sad, because I do love my friends and would like to believe I can count on them.

Now-a-days I’m learning more and more that trusting God’s love and approval is more important than anything. No one else’s. God’s love will always be there – all day, every day,

A friend once told me this:

“Be who you are, who God made you to be, and know who you are in His eyes. You are a person of great value and worth to God. Ultimately what matters most is not what I think, or even what you think or others think, but what God thinks. His first and continual and last thoughts of us are overflowing with love and grace.”

And what comfort that is!
