A Voice from the World’s Largest Rohingya Refugee Camps
by Mohammed Rofique
Please Don’t Forget Us ,
I am a displaced Rohingya refugee survivor. For the past 8 years, I have stood beside my community as a CPC Community Para Counselor under the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency MHPSS program, listening to pain, holding hope, and supporting the most vulnerable.
Today, my heart feels heavy.
Humanitarian support is disappearing.
Funding is ending.
But our suffering is not.
Volunteers who once saved lives are now jobless.
Parents cannot protect their children.
Fear is growing.
Kidnappings are increasing.
Ransom demands are becoming normal.
Every night, families sleep with anxiety, not knowing what tomorrow will bring.
When Rohingya people work as humanitarian workers, it gives us dignity.
We gain knowledge.
We build strength.
We support our families.
And our people feel safe to speak — in their own language, without fear, without shame.
But now, many NGOs are leaving.
Not because our pain is over —
but because the world is tired.
Our suffering has become an “old story.”
But for us, it is everyday life.
Please, imagine yourself in a crisis.
Imagine losing your home.
Your country.
Your future.
Only then can you understand what it means to be vulnerable.
Thank you to the few who still stand with vulnerable people around the world 🌍.
Please — do not forget us.
Do not turn away.
The Rohingya still rely on the world.
But the world has not solved the Rohingya crisis.
If speaking the truth makes people hate me, I accept it.
Silence is more painful than hatred.
I want to see everyone smile.
I want to see vulnerable people happy in every corner of the world.
I still believe in humanity.
I still believe in mercy.
Insha’Allah, light will return.
Please remember us.
Please stand with us.
