IN THE NAME OF JESUS
SPIRITUAL SUPPORT FOR MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 14:13

Some of you will have heard that I have a new book coming out about how to help your friends overcome the pain that stigma is causing them. (titles above) Have you wondered what I mean by “spiritual support?” How can a person give spiritual support to their hurting friends?

I think it’s mostly by reminding them of Jesus and all he was and all he did. It’s by reminding them of the great love he has for us. It’s by reassuring them that he’s still with us today through his Spirit.

If we’re going to help others find relief from the pain caused by stigma, we can’t do it alone. Our own love is not great enough by itself. It is only possible by taking the kind of love Jesus puts in our heart and sharing it with others.

It’s only in his name that healing can take place. Remember what Jesus said? “. . . I will do whatever you ask in my name.”

When we pray, we pray in his name. It’s in this same way that bringing his love for others and his healing power becomes possible. Through Jesus, we can help bring relief from suffering.

And that’s what the book with the title, In the Name of Jesus, is about. It’s about how we can help people find relief from their pain by sharing Jesus with them—helping them realize who he is and how much he loves us. There is no other way but through Jesus.

. . . and what a beautiful name it is!

This song must be one of my favorites. Why not give it a listen?
