JESUS AND HIS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Perhaps the problem with helping non-Christians understand and accept the love of Jesus, is because He is thought of in terms too narrow for people to be able make a part of their traditional faith.

In the work I’m doing, I try to make the Living Room spiritual mental health groups available to all faiths, regardless of how they differ. Jesus and his unconditional love is its foundation as it always has been, but with a difference.

Groups formed could be Muslim, Christian, Hindu, or any other religion, led by a facilitator who follows that faith.

Christians like me (for example) see Jesus as the Son of God; Muslims like the Rohingya (for example) look at Him as a Prophet. Yes, we differ in that way. But I believe that most of us will recognize Him to be the best example for mankind to follow. For the purpose of Living Room, I try to present the truths about Jesus in a way many faiths can accept and appreciate.

I ask those who want to form support groups to look at Him as He was known by those who experienced His presence first-hand during His three-year ministry 2000 years ago. This was before He was understood to be God, and before it was known that He would be crucified. In other words, simply Jesus—the one who did amazing things and taught us valuable lessons about life. The man He was known to be before He became part of the religions that later developed.

Believing in Jesus, as seen in this way, would not need to transform a person’s faith, nor would it take away from their faith. It would only add to the faith they have. Jesus stands alone, free from existing religions. He stands ready to become part of all people’s spiritual lives.

If Jesus is accepted in this way, people of all faiths—though different from each other—can come together under the umbrella of this unconditional love that he modelled. It is a love that has the power to heal those who suffer emotionally or mentally. It is a love that can be shared with all in our community and in our wider world—no matter who we are, no matter where we come from, no matter how we worship.

Jesus and His love could be a pathway to world peace.
