Dear supporters,

I have some very definite topics that I hope you will help me pray for.

Well over 80 (maybe 90) Rohingya individuals in the Bangladesh refugee camps are connected with me via LinkedIn. They live in deplorable conditions. I’m developing some wonderful relationships with them. One dear person now even calling me “aunt.” Others call me “dear ma’m”

But every day I receive requests from one or two people asking for financial help. They see me as a kind and supportive person because of the many writings I post daily, trying to give them encouragement and hope.

As a result, they all think that I would want to and am able to support them in financial ways as well. But there is no way I could personally respond to all these needs. If I gave to one, I would have to give to everyone. And the needs are so very great.

I’m trying to find a globally active Christ-based organization that could focus some of their work on Rohingya needs specifically. I would very gladly donate generously to such an organization. I have written twice to the Bangladesh chapter of the Jesuit Refugee Service appealing to them for help. Am waiting for their response.

wonderful development for Living Room’s Open Door is the recent establishment of a Rohingya women’s group of ten members. They have already met for two sessions and all are excited and looking forward to the third. I heard from the facilitator tonight. But—as is now always occurring—she is also looking for financial input, not only spiritual care.

She wrote:

“I conducted two sessions with women. We shared our stories with each other, try to understand each other’s pain. The women are very excited to attend more sessions.
But the challenge is that most of the women are suffering with disease, unable to get hygiene kits..etc.. It would be better we can provide some refreshments during session.”

Please pray for these people—forgotten by the world, with no country to call their own. So much to tell you about—things the world is not hearing about or paying attention to. But one thing currently the worst, are the monsoon rains pouring down on their fragile shelters with the flooding they bring, destroying many, leaving some people with no place to live. Water everywhere, difficulty finding dry places.

One urgent request I had from one of my contacts is for shelter for a family with five children which had just come from Myanmar. There is no room in the crowded camp for them to build a shelter and they need to rent a room with money they don’t have. They have lost everything they owned.

Yes, Rohingya people need great mountains of prayer. They so need to have hope.

Please pray for me too. The Rohingya have become like brothers and sisters to me, and their suffering affects me deeply.

I include some recent pictures from a Rohingya friend.
