So good sometimes just to spend some time with Jesus and leave everything else behind..

August 2018

For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to him—and all along he knew who would—should become like his Son, so that his Son would be the First, with many brothers.

Romans 8:29 (TLB)

In the past few years, I went through much suffering. However, because I kept up writing my letters to God in my journal, that suffering transformed me. Though tears did not cease, I gradually became stronger, more assured of the role he had given me. More clearly seeing where he was leading.

During the worst of the pain, I tried to draw close to Jesus, aware that he too was suffering. I felt like Jesus and I were in it together, in fellowship. And I’m sure we were. By trying to understand what it must have been to go through what he did, I came to know him better. We became closer.

Have you ever – consciously – made an effort to get closer to Jesus? Have you ever tried to put yourself in his shoes – to see what it was like to live the life he led? To feel what it must have been for him to suffer the way he did?

Just think if you were not only to follow Jesus, but to walk with him. Imagine where he might take you….

Accompany Jesus as he goes from place to place. See for yourself how he heals and comforts the sick. Capture his loving spirit and make it your own, sharing it the way you see him share. Fellowship with him as you travel and while you rest at end of day. Tell him all that’s in your heart. Listen as he tells you all that’s in his. Can you imagine what that would be like? Allow yourself to be conformed to whom Jesus is. Allow yourself to become like him, a brother as God intended you to be.

And when you re-enter the world in which you live, carry that person with you. That person you’ve come to know so well. That person named Jesus, who has grown to be such a part of who you are.

Thank you, Lord, for fellowship with you.
