In effect, Jesus said, “I have come. I have come to give life, to give light, to bring peace, to seek and to save,” But he also said, “but if you don’t accept the things I offer, there would be division..”

Lord God, we pray for your world. We pray for your people. We pray that your truth will be known and trusted.

Because families are being torn apart.

Even as they see one of their own struggling to find breath and to live. Even while doctors and nurses give their all to keep him alive—himself not conscious of all being done. The ventilator, the induced coma, the tracheotomy. Eyes open slightly without seeing. A sign of hope. But enough?

Three weeks have gone by. In the midst a family watches. With love drawn close through years of gatherings. Children born. Mothers and fathers passing.

But what now, when some believe one thing and some believe another?

God, you have said that what is bad can be overcome with good. Show us the good we must do.

Help us to trust you and your truth, with us from the beginning. Help us to trust that you are—even now—in control.
