In the previous post I talked about how some people with mental health problems go home after church with feelings of rejection.

I confess, that happened to me many times in past years. Often those feelings of rejection led to depression.

I don’t know whether I’m different than I used to be, but in the church I attend now, I seldom get those feelings. I go home having been satisfied with friendly interactions with others. In fact, when I’m sitting or standing alone, someone usually comes over to talk.

I wonder if the design of the building might have something to do with it. The church I attend now has a bright roomy foyer where people can visit after the service. The sanctuary is also bright – a space where people like to stay to visit and pray.
